چکیده
An abundance analysis of the photosphere of the F-type Post-AGB candidate IRAS 05341+0852 is presented. The analysis of the spectra suggests that the atmospheric model: Teff=6500 K, log g=0.5, ξt=5 km s−1 and [M/H]=1.0, best represents the photosphere of the star. We find that the star is metal-poor ([Fe/H]=−0.9) and carbon-rich (C/O≈1.9). Lithium, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, aluminum and silicon are found to be overabundant. Most importantly this star has large overabundance of s-process elements which are as follows: [Y/Fe]=1.6, [Ba/Fe]=2.2, [La/Fe]=2.9, [Ce/Fe]=1.6, [Pr/Fe]=1.8, [Nd/Fe]=2.0, and [Sm/Fe]=1.7. These s-process enhancements are of similar magnitude to those seen in FG Sge. The enhancement of Li and Al are expected due to Hot Bottom Burning (HBB), in massive AGB stars. However, the low metallicity, heliocentric radial velocity (vr = 25 km s−1), and the high Galactic latitude (b = −12o) suggest that IRAS 05341+0852 is a low-mass star. Also the [S/Fe]=0.2 indicates that the low Fe abundance is intrinsic and is not due to fractionation. The significant overabundance of lithium (log ≤ 2.5) and aluminum ([Al/Fe]=1.4) in this star is a puzzle. Furthermore we have detected the C2 Phillips and CN Red bands in absorption. We find rotational temperatures, column densities, and expansion velocities which show that these lines are formed in the detached circumstellar dust shell (the AGB ejecta) and we find an expansion velocity of the AGB ejecta of vexp = 10.8± 1.0 km s−1.

Circumstellar Molecular Line Absorption and Emission in the Optical Spectra of Post-agb Stars
We present a list of post-AGB stars showing molecular line absorption and emission in the optical spectrum. Two objects show CH, one in emission and one in absorption, and ten stars show C2 and CN in absorption. The Doppler velocities of the C2 lines and the rotational temperatures indicate that the line forming region is the AGB remnant. An analysis of the post-AGB stars of which CO millimeter...
متن کاملIRAS 08281 - 4850 and IRAS 14325 - 6428 : two A - type post - AGB stars with s - process enrichment ⋆
Aims. One of the puzzling findings in the study of the chemical evolution of (post-)AGB stars is why very similar stars (in terms of metallicity, spectral type, infrared properties, etc. . . ) show a very different photospheric composition. We aim at extending the still limited sample of s-process enriched post-AGB stars, in order to obtain a statistically large enough sample that allows us to ...
متن کاملobservations of the “ water fountain ” IRAS 16552 − 3050
We present Very Large Array (VLA) observations of the water maser emission towards IRAS 16552-3050. The maser emission shows a velocity spread of ≃ 170 km s, and a bipolar distribution with a separation between the red and blueshifted groups of≃ 0.08. These observations and the likely post-AGB nature of the source indicate that IRAS 16552-3050 can be considered as a member of the “water fountai...
متن کاملWater maser detections in southern candidates to post-AGB stars and Planetary Nebulae
Aims. We intended to study the incidence and characteristics of water masers in the envelopes of stars in the post-AGB and PN evolutionary stages. Methods. We have used the 64-m antenna in Parkes (Australia) to search for water maser emission at 22 GHz, towards a sample of 74 sources with IRAS colours characteristic of post-AGB stars and PNe, at declination < −32o. In our sample, 39% of the sou...
متن کاملIRAS 03313+6058: an AGB star with 30 micron emission
This paper reports a detection of the 30 micron emission feature from the C–rich Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) star IRAS 03313+6058 based on the ISO–SWS observation. Modeling of the spectral energy distribution shows that this emission starts at about 20 micron and possibly extends to the limit (45 micron) of the observation. By assuming MgS as the carrier, the number ratio of Sulfur atoms in M...
